What is Warehouse Management System (WMS)?

Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a system that records the warehouse activities, inventory movement and manage the stock level and location. The warehouse activities mainly fall into two groups, inbound activities and outbound activities, the definitions of the warehouse activities are as following:

Inbound activities

01 Receiving 

Goods are arrived in warehouse and unloading in the dock.  

02 Put away

Inventories are loading on the assigned rackets in a right warehouse location for storage. 

Outbound activities

03  Picking

Inventories would be obtained from rackets according to the products lists from customer’s sales orders. 

04  Packing

Products would be assembled or group into a suitable carton box according to the sales orders, some fragile or liquid inventories may need to be wrapped by bubbles wrap or safety cushioning materials for protecting the products.  

05  Shipping

The products would be ship out by logistic and delivered to the customer.
